The Trump administration has presented a plan for Gaza, named “The Great Trust”. This 38-page document is currently being circulated by the Trump administration.
Let us tell you that on October 7, 2023, the terrorist organization Hamas entered Israel and attacked several cities, military bases and even a music festival. About 1200 people were killed in this attack and about 250 people were kidnapped. In response to this attack, the Israel Defense Forces started action, which is still going on. According to various sources, more than 50,000 people have lost their lives in this action so far, mostly women and children. Due to this military action and blockade of Israel, there has been a severe shortage of food in the Gaza Strip. In view of this situation, the United Nations has declared a famine in Gaza.

Amidst these circumstances, US President Donald Trump has made public a document titled “Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration and Transformation – GREAT Trust”. Its main objective is said to be to administer Gaza under US trusteeship for at least 10 years and bring positive change there.
Key points of GREAT Trust:
- Voluntary relocation of about 20 lakh people will be done. This rehabilitation can be done in other countries or in safe areas within Gaza.
Some incentives will also be given to attract rehabilitated people:
- $5000 cash assistance
- Rent incentives for four years
- Food assistance for one year
- Digital tokens to landowners, which can later be redeemed as housing in AI-based smart cities.
The Gaza Strip, which is currently in a bad state, will be developed as a tech-tourism hub. It will have all the facilities like manufacturing plants, resorts, data centers, state-of-the-art roads and smart cities.
The document also states that the capital required for the project will be raised from public and private investment, with about $70 to $100 billion coming from public investment and $35 to $65 billion from private investment.
The plan also mentions a new type of financial model. According to this, Gaza citizens will be given digital tokens in exchange for their land assets, which they will be able to redeem as new assets after redevelopment.
Under this plan, the US will run its administration over Gaza for some time and when the situation becomes normal, it will be handed over to the reformed Palestinian Authority. However, nothing has been said in this document on the statehood of Palestine.
Criticism
This plan is facing strong criticism by many organizations and people. Critics say that this plan is actually forced displacement and it violates international laws.
